PLACES OF INTEREST AROUND CANDIDASA


Tenganan Village: Home of the Bali Aga– the original Balinese people. The village is famous for its unique rituals and ceremonies.

Candidasa Temple: Across for the lagoon, it is said to have been built in the 11th century and is dedicated to Dewi Betara Ayu Manis, the goddess of fertility.

Amlapura Palace: Puri Agung, Built in the late 19th century. Dutch influence can be seen in the architecture and furnishings.

Tirtagangga Water Palace: Built in 1947 by a Balinese Raja. Large ponds and swimming pools surround the palace.

Goa Lawah Bat Cave: A very important temple. It is one of Bali’s nine directional temples. The cave which is part of the temple, is the habitat for bats. It is said to be guarded by Naga Basuki, a large dragon Snake.

Besakih —The Mother Temple: Constructed more than 1000 years ago it is located on the slopes of Gunung Agung. Besakih is the most important temple in Bali. Miraculously survived the 1963 eruption of the volcano.
